I'll have to check with a couple Facility Engineers but this smoke appears to be from a clutch between a hum 200 HP Diesel motor a clutch and the actual generator. In a power outage the engine kicks in the clutch acts as a buffer because the generator is still not spinning so it eases it up to speed via a clutch so in this case and photo I’d say it was a Clutch failure. Also note the high tech engine a 10 cylinder low tech motor been around about 60 years in Europe they have 12 of them usually under a sport car. I guess the 1980's tan boxes are the supposed computer controls...and because they always keep safety in mind note the warning sign we are going to screw this test up sign 2/3rds from right to left. and the blinking amber light in the bottom left corner.
Fact is AP made news over a press release not checked facts but hired a good degree with no real world knowledge.
